HAPPY 2008 to Everyone.

The 2008 season is up and running with our first event in Robstown, TX., with 78 teams. This event has grown each year for the past 4 years—last year they had 51 teams. Daniel Bluntzer and his BBQ committee have done a great job on this event.

Congratulations to Sam Keach, Jr., Triple A Cookers/Nueces County Record Star, on being named Grand Champion, and Danny Luera, Big D’s Barbeque, Reserve.

As the season begins, I would like to take this time to say THANK YOU to all of the promoters for getting their dates to us so that we can get the calendar as up to date as possible. At this time we have 75 events listed for 2008, quite a few of the regular dates not yet posted. Among these 75 events, we have 6—8 new events that we have never sanctioned before.

The National BBQ Assn. Convention and Tradeshow will be held in Austin Feb20-23, 2008.

IBCA will not have a booth this year but Jeff & I will attend and if anyone would like some IBCA merchandise, contact the office prior to Feb. 20th.

Saturday, Feb. 23rd, is Public Day—tickets are $15.00 for 1st adult, $10.00 there after—$8.00 for children under 12. To attend any of the classes that are being offered check out their webpage - www.nbbqa.org and download the information.

ATTENTION: Due to the rising cost of printing and postage, we would like to know if any members would rather get the IBCA Newsletter from our website www.ibcabbq.org under Smokin’ Log rather than snail mail. We realize that everyone doesn’t has a computer but this would be a BIG savings for the organization.

If anyone would like to write an article on any IBCA event that you attend, we are always looking for things to go into the newsletter. This is your newsletter and we would like to supply information that you enjoy.
