ANNUAL IBCA SATURDAY MEETING

The 2007 Annual Saturday meeting was held in Austin at the VFW 8787.  We had a great turn out from all

around the state.  A special thanks to the Post Commander and his group for making sure that we had

everything we needed for the meeting.  They served hamburgers and fries at lunch.

The BOD met before the General meeting and went over the proposed rule changes that had been submitted.

The rule changes were sent out with the ballots—please place into your membership book.

The invitations for the IBCA Invitational, October 13, have been mailed out—there are over 250 Head Cooks

qualified for this event.  This year the meat for the invitation will be PORK LOIN, (not tenderloin) and

will be turned in as slices—quantities will be determined on the number of entries.  Responses have started

coming in and we have teams planning to attend from AR, LA, OK, and of course from all over Texas.

Let’s make this a record breaking year for participation in the IBCA Invitational.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL TIME

It is that time of the year again. All General Memberships must be current as of  AUGUST 31, 2007 to qualify for the added money at the Traders Village event October 13-14.    Lifetime members need to pay the PIT dues also.

You will note on your Newsletter label your membership number and due date—if it has 8-31-07 then it’s time to renew.  Thanks to all for supporting IBCA.  Also, if you have internet access please notify this office—we have started posting   the Smokin’ Log on the IBCA website www.ibcabbq.org and it will save on postage and printing.   THANKS

TRADERS VILLAGE BBQ  Oct. 12—14, 2007

We have started getting calls in reference to this event.  Each year we go through the same thing.  TRADERS VILLAGE BBQ is an OPEN event to anyone that would like to participate.  You do not have to be a member, however, to be eligible for the added IBCA money your membership must be current prior to August 31, 2007.

West Texas BBQ Assn. has withdrawn from the IBCA stating that they were going out on their own.

Several of the events in the West Texas area have chose to stay with IBCA.  Boomer, Jennifer, and Kristi

are still IBCA judges for this area.

We are talking with three (3) different areas in reference to starting up other PITS.  As the organization

continues to grow—we are in need of additional Head Judges.

This year (Jan-Dec) we will have sanctioned close to 130 events with an average of 40+ teams.

Thanks to all for your continued support of the IBCA.

If anyone would like to write an article on any IBCA event that you attend, we are always looking for things to go into the newsletter. This is your newsletter and we would like to supply information that you enjoy.

Third Coast BBQ

The first annual Third Coast BBQ Association BBQ was hosted by the VFW 4816 in Porter, TX on June 2, 2007.  It was all good—good weather—good accommodations—good people and good fun.

This is a nice place with plenty of space, hookups, and shade trees.  There were 27 teams competing for over $7,500.00 in cash and prizes.

Moonlight Cookers walked away with the Grand Champion and a Backwoods Smoker, The Chubby, donated by  Backwoods Smokers of Dixie, LA.

The trophies were Cast Iron frying pans inlaid with leather and laser engraved for each category.  They were awesome and very generously donated by the Bee Unique Embroidery (Guzzlin’ Gourmets) in Rosenberg.

Thanks to all who participated and we hope that next year will be bigger and better.  Hope to see or hear from you along the way.
