IBCA Additional Information
The following information is regarding what teams are qualified for:
IBCA INVITATION -At any IBCA sanctioned event, the Head Cook who has a first (1st) place of the basic meat categories (chicken, pork spare ribs, brisket, or pork} or is the Grand Champion will receive an invitation to participate in the IBCA Invitational, location and date will be announced. Qualifying dates are from September 1 thru August 31 of each year.
National BBQ Championship, Meridian, Texas,- the fourth week-end of October each year. The top three (3) places in each meat category: brisket, pork ribs, chicken, and pork will receive an invitation, if there are at least 10 teams participating. (Wild Game categories are not included. Qualifying dates are: Last week-end of October thru the third week-end of October each year.
STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS- If the event has a Proclamation stating that their event is a State Championship, the first year there is a minimum of 15 teams to make it a qualifier, thereafter, the event must have 25 teams. The event must have entries of beef brisket, pork, and poultry to be considered for the above events. (to be a qualifier all meat categories must be cooked, turned in and been judged)
AMERICAN ROYAL INVITATIONAL – the new criteria for the American Royal Invitational is that a first year event must have 15 teams, thereafter 25 – all basic meats (chicken, ribs, and brisket) must be cooked, turned in and been judged by all contestants for the Grand Champion to be qualified. Qualifying dates are July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015
JACK DANIELS INVITATIONAL – events with 50+ teams or State Championship meeting the criteria, the Grand Champion’s name will be placed into the lottery draw for the State. Paperwork must be returned to the Jack Daniels, once Invitation is received, to be included into the draw – it isn’t automatic. Qualifying dates are:
2015 – September 1, 2014 through July 31, 2015
2016 – August 1, 2015 through July 31, 2016
